Fraser Tce Houses
The Fraser Tce Houses are two single family homes on an incredibly steep riverside block in popular Highgate Hill. Our client engaged us for two seperate components of design services. Firstly we were to design both the individual adjoining houses on the site to a level of documentation sufficient for the development application process; and secondly to provide more detailled drawings for one of the houses ready for building approval.
This brief was to design an economical, architectural family home to best utilise the steep block and to frame a variety of vistas of the Brisbane River, and the University of Queensland beyond. The proposal proved to be a layered response to a variety of factors including complying with strict council height restrictions and contextual requirements, construction budget and the challenging task of articulating a building form that was significantly disjointed by its landform. The design response offers a considered building form that responds to its specific contextual setting using these prompts to influence its architectural aesthetic.
