Victoria Parade House
Perched on an elevated block in Clayfield, the client presented a brief with two simple requests; a house that presented a strong dominance to the street, yet relinquishes itself to the sight of Brisbane’s CBD to the rear. What resulted is an articulated front facade with elevated main entry, encased by an enveloping roof structure containing the programme of its residents. In contrast, the facade at the rear is recessed to allow the roof eaves to ‘float’ and frame the residences’ picturesque outlook. Considered a necessity by the client, the rooftop deck not only caps the architecture, but will provide an unrivalled space for the owners to invite their envious neighbours to share a casual drink on a lazy Sunday afternoon.
